Graphics, visualization and text tradeoffs

Here is an interesting story from Poynter about election graphics. Designers are exploring more complex visual designs than before, but they worry that the charts or graphs will be "too dense."

I think they should provide the graphics. This seems like the same issue of whether you create a dynamic data presentation or just write about numbers.
