NP Rank:
Great success of Beltango Quintet in Buenos Aires
Beltango Quintet has recently returned from Buenos Aires following a two-week tour.
Our
renowned band travelled there upon invitation of Buenos Aires Ministry
of Culture, which trusted their talent well enough to include them in
the official programme of the IX World Tango Festival, the most famous
tango festival in the world. The fact that this was the first time ever
that an orchestra from Europe had been invited to this famous festival
made this invitation particularly valuable.
Beltango gave two
unforgettable concerts during the festival (Plazza Echeverria and
Teatro Sarmiento), and they performed to Buenos Aires audiences at two
famed milongas (Bien Pulenta and Salon Canning). The reaction of the
audience was terrific, and the praise of the old Argentinean tangueros
was particularly rewarding. The atmosphere at celebrated Salon Canning
during Beltango performance served to confirm that Beltango is one of
very few tango orchestras worldwide that successfully transforms and
embraces different tango styles (Traditional Tango, Tango Nuevo,
Balkango). Buenos Aires audience in particularly welcomed the original
pieces composed for Beltango, and new Beltango CD became a hit among
tango DJs in Buenos Aires.
The news that a Serbian tango orchestra
was the guest of the greatest tango festival in the world attracted
considerable coverage in Argentinean media. Furthermore, good use was
made of the stay at Buenos Aires to intensify contacts with great tango
artists, and a Protocol on Cooperation was signed between the patron of
the Belgrade Tango Festival – Stari Grad Municipality and the patron of
the World Tango Festival – Buenos Aires Ministry of Culture.
On
return from Buenos Aires, Beltango is getting ready for a grand
European tour in Germany, Sweden and Greece, and they are also scheduled to
perform in Sofia and Ljubljana. Naturally, we are all together
expecting the peak of the season in Belgrade and the 4th Belgrade Tango
Festival, which is to take place between 6 and 9 September.
