Yesterday Diageo Plc announced it was reviewing brewing operations in Ireland after local media reported the drinks giant may quit the Dublin city centre site where Guinness has been brewed for almost 250 years.
The site, where Arthur Guinness took out a 9,000 year lease on a disused brewery in 1759, has grown into a prime 64 acre city centre site which could could fetch as much as 3 billion euros ($4 billion).

The Guinness Brewery is Dublin's most popular tourist attraction .

It would be a great pity if this move went ahead. I live in the city centre and all the petrol stations near me have shut down because of real estate value and more recently hotels and pubs are being sold for the same reason. The ironic thing is that the petrol stations wiped out the small local shops.
