Gun Nuts and Family Values

Today I came across one of the creepiest sites I've seen in a while.  Assaultweb is a collection of paranoid gun nuts who are afraid to visit their own families without packing heat.  Here is the concerned letter of one of the 'ladies of assault web':

my husbands sister in law, whose husband has been activated from the army reserve in texas, called & asked us not to carry weapons in their home. I said, fine, i won't go over there anymore! My hubby was excited when we received our tx chl (2 months waiting!) and wanted to show his bro who had just then been activated. The response we received was somewhat disappointing. Am i wrong in not wanting to go somewhere i am not allowed to carry???

The response is almost as comical as the question.  In answer to the question another member says:

Unless it's work related I don't go where I'm not allowed to carry.

Nothing wrong with it at all. Whats gonna happen if the manson gang breaks in while you are visiting? Is you sister in law gonna fend them off with her shoe?

How traumatized were these people as children?  How rational is it to base your entire life on the fear that Charlie Manson is going to show up  at the door?  How much do you want to bet that this person smokes 3 packs a day?  What's more likely to do you in, the world's most famous serial killer or the 60 Marlboros?
