The small office on the ground floor of Kaufman Hall at the University of Oklahoma belies the world travels of Farland Stanley.

The professor has toured the nation playing guitar for classic rock icons and excavated areas in Israel once inhabited by Pontius Pilate and King Herod. Stanley is planning to take another long trip in November to the Philippines, where he will accept a Gusi Peace Prize.

Past recipients have included royalty, politicians, scientists, journalists, educators and activists who, according to the Gusi Peace Prize Foundation, are "brilliant exemplars of society or who have contributed towards the attainment of peace and respect for human life and dignity.”
