Gwyneth Paltrow is on the defensive, after some comments she made to a Portuguese daily "speaking bad Spanish" (not sure why she is speaking Spanish for the Portuguese press) were "misconstrued." The papers reported that she said "the British are much more intelligent and civilised than the Americans." Of course, all of America is now in an uproar over these comments, and therefore Gwyneth went on the record to People magazine explaining her position.
