UPDATE 23rd February 2007. Factory shoe outlet will move after nearly a decade of business because parking restrictions have forced customers away, according to the owner.

R&F Closers in Bruce Street, St James, Northampton UK, has been a factory shoe outlet for nine years and a shoe manufacturing site for 10 years before that.

"Business was fine two and a half years ago but a residents' permit scheme was put in place and it killed us. People then had only four places to park for all the shops in nearby streets so it became very difficult for them to visit from further afield.'' It just devastated us and I know it is the same for other businesses nearby. ''I have been a customer of this company for many years, there is no better place to go for top branded shoes, trainers and slippers at rock bottom prices. But since they moved I have been unable to find them. Northampton is such a sprawl of new building schemes added bit by bit over many years with no foresight, culminating in a giant muddled maze which is where they are today. Most people who live outside of Northampton prefer to shop in Milton Keynes, the MK design is far superior, duel carriage ways, massive car parks next to Massive stores. Northampton charges for parking but you have to walk for miles to get to the small stores. Hardly a Good Deal''.
