i'm allergic to everything, so imagine my surprise when i went a whole month without taking allergy meds. i've taken nasonex for several years. after my last trip home, though (first week in may), i left it in my suitcase and, well, laziness took over. so i kept putting it off and putting it off until now.

last night, i had a ridiculous onslaught of sneezing. literally, 20+ times, to the point my whole face was red and puffy by the time i went to bed. i've had a worse-than-usual headache for the past few days, and that persistent itchy feeling in my right nostril that leads me to sneeze every time i scratch it. enter costco, who has 75 pills of zyrtec for the low low price of $31.

i have a deviated septum, so my right nostril sees all the action. my left, inconveniently the one with the piece of metal stuck in it, is always clogged. there's also a cyst in my maxillary sinus that consumes about a third of the space on that side. wee! damn my mother and her awful allergies.

familiar with draining sinuses? my doctor in high school explained very simply that when drainage hangs around too long, it basically develops into a big boil (what presumably is in reality a cyst). one of mom's frontal sinuses was so bad, they shoved an instrument up her nose and scraped everything out. she was in an incredible amount of pain for a very long time, right at christmas, and she couldn't feel that much of a difference. and her allergies are still severe. oh well, one of the many deformities i've inherited from her. go genetics!

tomorrow owen and i are driving to dallas for toby's graduation. who wants to spend seven hours on the road tomorrow? ::raises hand::
