My Circumcision

BACOLOR -- A total of 800 kids staying at the Bulaon Resettlement Center in the City of San Fernando, Madapdap Resettlement Center in Mabalacat, and the Model Community here “have now become young men,” courtesy of the free "Operation Tuli" last May 9, 16, and 23.

The "libreng tuli" (free circumcision) aims to provide free circumcision to Bacolor kids.

The activity is a joint project of Ron-Ron Dungca, son of Bacolor Mayor Romeo Dungca Jr., together with the Alpha Phi Omega-Dr. Frank Reed Horton Allied Health Society and Rural Health Unit here.

Having been circumcised my self for religious reason in a country where circumcision is not the norm and where Christians including Catholics do not carry out such operations on their male babies or young males. I find it interesting that in the Catholic society I now live in its a must for religious reasons for both Muslims and Catholics. However its now mostly done hygienically and using modern surgery technical. In the past some babies and young boys have died because of infections.

Now that its been found to be (tongue in cheek) a God send (so to speak) as its harder to catch the HIV virus. In the Philippine society that mostly feels condoms are evil, HIV and full blown AID's statics are very low.
