Pro-choice and pro-life campaigners are turning up for abortion rallies in Northern Ireland, as the House of Commons in London prepares to debate the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill on Wednesday. The bill would extend the 1967 Abortion Act (which legalizes abortion for up to the first 28 weeks of pregnancy) to NI, where abortion is illegal except to save the life of the mother.

However, the bill itself is seen by many as too hot to handle, and the Government may do its best to push the bill to the back of the schedule, so that session time will expire before it can be debated.

An amendment to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill would extend the 1967 Abortion Act to Northern Ireland.

The Alliance for Choice group, which wants the act extended, held smaller rallies outside Belfast City Hall and in Londonderry.

Alliance Party assembly member Anna Lo, who is pro-choice, told Inside Politics the amendment was "the last chance to liberalise the law on abortion".

The abortion amendment is due to be debated in the Commons on Wednesday.

Several message videos are appearing on Youtube- I'm adding some from each side of the debate.
