Adding milk to tea negates health benefits: Study
Tea was previously known to enhance the capability of blood circulatory system by improving the ability of arteries to relax and expand and thus improving blood pressure. But, a recent study has added that this positive impact of tea upon blood circulation can get blocked by the inclusion of milk into it. Milk added contains proteins, called 'caseins', which are responsible for this negation. They decrease the amount of compounds in tea known as 'catechins' which increase the capability of blood circulatory system.
Adding milk to a cup of tea can destroy its ability to protect against heart disease, according to research.
Drinking tea reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke, but adding milk alters the effect, APP reported.

Tell me it isn't so..............
Actually I thought the healthy teas were the herbal ones.

No, black tea is also good for health. Well, it's as good as green tea.
at 05:57 on May 6th, 2009
:) I never use milk in tea. Whoo hoo.
at 06:27 on May 6th, 2009
Tea is not a medicine: it's something we drink for pleasure! Who cares whether it's good for this or that!

I am with Gerry in this.
Such bull(cow?)sh*t stories always come in media. see the examples
- wine increases lefthand heart failure rate. Then news in the next day- Daily drinking of 3.3022 ml of wine , that too made from "blueblack" Utopian wine reduces pimples at the age of 11.
- Coconut oil increases the cholesterol in kids who watches tom and jerry cartoon. Then news in the next weer - coconut oil mixed with 21.32 ml of kerosene makes kids eyes to see ultravilot rays.
Tea without milk is no tea at all.

And I am against you.
A sh*t for one is, most of the times, everything for another. Example? A sculpture placed in a Hindu Temple is nothing more than a sculpture for Muslims, but everything for followers of Hindu faith. A Quran placed in a Muslim's home or Mosque is everything for a Muslim, but nothing more than a book for followers of Hindu faith.
You called this story bull(***?)sh*t, I call it a Holy-shit! But, give it a second thought, someone (or many) spent days and nights making this research so that people could benefit. Rightly said, there would always be a one who will criticize, so nice!
Also, my ratio of adding milk is 60:40 i.e. 60% milk and 40% tea, I am a pure dudh-patti lover. ;-)

Hey, your story is excellent. No question about that . :-)
To borrow your own words ( I had warned you about this ) don't break the rules of comparison. No one is going to drink a sculpture or quaran or a cross. Keep them away from tea. At least for the tea-time.
As said in my comments, this is really meaningless that these so called researchers manufacture this kind of "findings" at times - not always. I don't have links to resources right now, but will search and let you know, if you want.
Examples like:-
*Viagra good for something or not
*fish is good for health or not
*sex reduces / increases heart attack
*trance music helps to meet god / no.
The results keep flip-flopping and really confuse ordinary people like anything.
Btw, I don't drink tea much, I am a coffee lover.

Nah! You are not an agent, well, as far as I see, there's a deep reasoning behind your using that name. ;-)
And, I repect you, because of your reasoning, don't take it as buttering, afterall you can't judge my intentions. ;-)

at 07:55 on May 6th, 2009
Did suspect that milk was not meant to be mixed with tea.informative.
at 08:28 on May 6th, 2009
Agree that milk is not meant for humans to drink at all. But this kind of "discoveries" are real fun to read. Just wait and watch, there would be another news after a couple of weeks that says that " Adding Siberian cow's milk to tea cures AIDS..!

And after that there would be a news that using Talibani cow's milk to tea increases the growth rate of your beard. Now that's a joke that I was looking for! ;-)

I read this story previously in Jan.09 http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn10913-milk-wrecks-the-health-benefits-of-tea.html
It was a wee bit disappointing but hey as an avid tea drinker, I shall continue drinking & enjoying my tea with milk as tis my morning beverage of choice.imo black tea was made for milk :D
I drink my green tea without milk now that would taste odd.
thanks for sharing.
at 09:43 on May 6th, 2009
And black tea is meant for white milk!
at 09:42 on May 6th, 2009
Awww, I always drink my tea with milk.. :(
at 09:47 on May 6th, 2009
Me too...:-(

How about with rice and/or soy "milk"?
at 18:25 on May 6th, 2009
If you ask me, that combination tastes awful.
About the pros and cons..! Well, anyone is there to fund a "research"..?
