Antibiotics - friend or foe

I have noticed a disturbing possible link between the use / over use of antibiotics and a number af diseases – all where the defence system of the body turns against itself after treatments with antibiotics, diseases like skin cancer, leukemia, failure of kidneys, diabetes.  I may be totally wrong but perhaps it is worth-while for the medical world to research such possible links.

I have noticed the following cases in my family and friends circles (1) About ten years ago I was diagnosed with skin cancer in my face (the South African sun can be severe). After treatment and very little use of antibiotics ever since I never had the problem of skin cancer again. (2) My sister in law lost their son at the age of 20. When he was 4 years old he was diagnosed of an illness where his body rejected his kidneys. After many years of treatment and transplants he eventually lost the battle. On after-thought, he attracted the illness after a severe tonsilitis and heavy treatment with antibiotics. (3) My other sister in law attracted diabetes after a neck operation and after treatment with antibiotics. It is well known that many children became diabetes after illnesses (which was probably treated with antibiotics). (4) My brother’s son was diagnosed with leukemia four years ago at the age of 7, after treatment with antibiotics. It is well known that children that contracted leukemia in the winter, may be because of treatment with antibiotics after an attack of flu. (5) A friend of mine got an illness where his body attacked his nerve system. After two years he is bounded to a wheelchair. The diagnoses is that the “isolation” around his nerves is disintegrating because his body destroys it. All of this - after heavy treatment with antibiotics after an attack of flu. (6) My neighbour got two severe skin cancer spots on his face which doctors had to remove with surgery – after antibiotics treatment after another operation in which part of his colon was removed.

May be this information is well known in the medical world (I am an engineer). But if not – I want to blow the whistle. Ordinary people are normally unaware of the possible links between the use of antibiotics and some diseases.

May be the problem can be that antibiotics disturbs the production of  the defence white blood cells such that the new white blood cells are foreign to the body and thus attack the body (in laymans words).

May be I am totally wrong in my diagnoses as non medical person, but let the professional medical people decide.

Sorry to hear about all the health problems with your friends and family.

You raised an interesting question that requires some online digging, if you have the time.

This may be a good simple starting point because it states the various side-effects of Antibiotics :
