Baby Cribs Recalled First in States Now in Canada

Simplicity baby cribs with drop side rails have been recalled in the United States and now in Canada.  This is an expansion of the recall ending September of last year.  The recall in the US involved at least 400 000 items.
Simplicity Crib Recall:  Side Cribs Baby Floats 

This recall involves Simplicity drop side cribs. This recall expansion includes all dates of manufacture for the following model numbers in Canada. These items are in addition to the cribs that were recalled in Next link will open in a new window September 2007 and Next link will open in a new window September 2008. The model number and date of manufacture can be found on the crib's headboard.

Hazard:  the crib has plastic hardware which is subject to deformation or breakage, allowing the drop side to detach creating a space that the infant can become trapped in.  Danger of suffocation.
Fix:  immediately stop using the crib and make alternate sleeping arrangements for your child.  No injuries have been reported in Canada although two failures have been.  A death has been reported in the United States.
