Baby mauled to death in dog attack in Wales
A three month old baby boy was attacked by two of his grandmother's dogs while he was asleep in his basket at his grandmother's house. It was thought that he was asleep on lower floor of the house and although police have not said exactly how the baby was killed, it is believed at this point that he was attacked by his grandmother's Staffordshire Bull terrier and Jack Russell.
Neighbours dragged the dogs off the baby who was bleeding heavily and was rushed to hospital, but died later. Both dogs have been destroyed.
The tragedy occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday morning in the town of Ystrad Mynach, 12 miles north of Cardiff. The child was taken Prince Charles hospital in Merthyr Tydfil where he was later pronounced dead.
The grandmother was also taken to hospital where she was treated for shock but was later released. Police confirmed that they intend to question the grandmother.
