Baby at Minneapolis Daycare Sucked on Ball of Cocaine on Floor
Employees were shocked to discover that one of the babies in their care at the AGAPE Child Development Center in Minneapolis had picked up a ball of cocaine and sucked on it; the baby must have picked it up off the floor. It was wrapped in plastic however and that is what probably saved the baby's life as the seal was unbroken when it was removed from his mouth.
It is not known who the drugs belonged to. The baby was rushed to hospital and is doing fine luckily. The boy, only 13-months-old, was playing with some other young children when the employees noticed he put something strange in his mouth.
"When I found out it was crack or cocaine then I was really like, 'Oh my God, just one drop in a baby's mouth could cause lord knows what damage," said AGAPE Child Development Centers CEO Dr. Diane Thibodeaux.
The room where the drugs were found has been cleaned and scrubbed, but there have been no charges as it is not known who to charge. The police have suspicions that it may be a parent, but nothing can be proven.
The daycare is now performing drug tests for staff and adding more security cameras.
