NP Rank:
Bacon Cures Hangovers
We all knew this to be true, at least anecdotally, but now science confirms it: Bacon cures hangovers.
It's not just eating (which boosts the metabolism so that your body can deal with toxins faster), but the very chemical makeup of the bacon itself.
Food does not "soak up" alcohol, despite what you heard during freshman year- see below for more detail. Before doing so, however, bear in mind that the best cure for a hangover is prevention: don't drink to excess, and drink non-booze along with booze. Avoid really sugary drinks, too, and do Jäger bombs only when absolutely necessary.
“Your body needs these amino acids, so eating them will make you feel good. Bingeing on alcohol depletes neurotransmitters too, but bacon contains a high level of amines which tops these up, giving you a clearer head.”
Keep in mind that, while it's the perfect accompaniment to the bacon sandwich, coffee is a false friend. It may make you feel better in the short term, but it's actually detrimental to overall morning-after recovery: it acts as a diuretic, purging precious water from your system.
Or so I'm told.

Bacon, eggs, sausages, black pudding, baked beans, tomatoes, mushrooms and fried bread works for me!

I don't know who the cook is, but most everything on the plate looks overcooked. IHOP does a great job for that Saturday or Sunday morning out with the family.

Black pudding is sausage made by cooking blood with a filler. Meat, fat, suet, bread, sweet potato, barley and oatmeal are typical. It is part of a traditional breakfast in England, Ireland, and Scotland. It's like the German blutwurst.
