Beat Seasonal Depression by keeping active during the winter months

With the rising cost of Gym membership and the intrepid, and the fast advancing winter, dark and cold days comes the dreaded scourge called 'Seasonal depression'.
We must find ways to combat this and to keep active in whatever ways we can.

Statistics have clearly demonstrated that we are becoming a nation of expanding waist lines and deteriorating health due to lack of exercise, poor diet stress and generally unhealthy lifestyles.
This epidemic is shredding the budgets of many NHS trusts and is devastating the health of many individuals. Many people are so unfit that they can not ever run roe a bus. In a nation such a the UK with so many parks and commons there is no excuse for people to lack exercise, despite this fact, the evidence shows that most people do not get adequate exercise. The main reason is a lack of motivation and down right Laziness.

Procrastination is the companion of laziness and failure and depression follows closely behind. ‘I was planning to go the Gym last week but….’ ‘I was going to play some badminton Wednesday but….’.’ I was going for a walk but….. ‘,’I must get some exercise after my holiday, maybe after Christmas , umhh perhaps I should leave it until the new year.’ We all say such things.

Well, it is a very simple story. We must ensure that we get adequate exercise on a regular basis. We must try to find cheap and simple ways of making this a reality.

Our community activity club ‘Superflex Frescobol Club’ has applied for one of the small government grants to assist activity groups to fund winter sports with the intent of keeping the people of this good nation active during the cold miserable winter months. What we are hoping is to secure this funding so that we was block book one of the local sports halls for the entire winter season so we can offer members of the public Free frescobol coaching with the hope that people would become more active and get some exercise.

We will be donating our time free of charge and we will provide all the equipment that people would need to take part in the activity.

If all goes as planned we would then be able to provide a FREE exercise activity for people who would otherwise not be able to or motivated enough to get any exercise during the winter months.
In the Summer months it is pretty easy to get people out or their houses because people are usually keen to go the Brighton beach or some other popular London park for a picnic and a game of Frescobol and fun but the dark wet winter days are a different stoty.

We have posted the pictures to capture peoples attention in the hope that they see that there are some cheap and fun types of exercise that are not indigenous to this country but however they can be adopted and adapted to this country to help promote a healthier nation.

Thanks for your comments. I see the results of poor lifestyle choices every day. We must try to live a more healthy lifestyle. We only get one body.

Thanks
Steve
