Hong Kong government officials have announced the first outbreak of the deadly bird flu virus since 2003. The fatal H5N1 virus strain was confirmed at a poultry farm. Steps have already been taken towards isolating the outbreak and killing the possibly infected birds.

The government announced Tuesday that bird flu was found at a farm near the border with China, and ordered the slaughter of more than 90,000 chickens by end of this week. Initial tests revealed the H5 virus and the results of follow-up tests announced Thursday identified it as the H5N1 strain.

It is an outbreak with in one Chicken farm. Those will be destroyed and a quarantine zone will be established to make sure that there will be no outbreak.

Thanks for reporting this, however any facility that houses 90 000 chickens is not a farm, it's a meat factory.
