A Boy's Rights for Autism Education in the Public School System
I am on a personal mission to bring attention to a major violation of basic human rights in Toronto, Canada perhaps the world over. A City that prides itself on tolerance and acceptance of others despite your race, religion or physical disabilities. However it seems that Autism and all Autism Spectrum Disorders do not fall under that same scope of tolerance. I can say this as a father of a brilliant 4year old boy who has faced numerous counts of discrimination , exclusion and overall prejudice. He has been withdrawn from the Toronto School Board System for his Junior Kindergarten school year because of the lack of properly trained teachers that specialize in Autism. My son has basically lost a year of free education that should be provided to him like everyone else. This lack of proper education has left my wife and I at a crossroads , we are no looking into alternative means of educating our son in a "private autism institution". Wow what a shock this turned out to be . The average costs for these private schools range anywhere from $45 000-$85 000 a year. How is this happening, and how can an average family afford that as well as maintain a family living as well? We certainly can not. This is what lead me to initiate a petition that I hope will generate a movement to include proper Autism Education fully funded by the Government not just in Toronto, or Canada but worldwide. With the ever growing number of autistic children diagnosed every year it is time we grapple this now before it is too late. Please take the time to read the petition and sign it we need all the help we can get .

I have already sent copies to The President Barack Obama, Prime Minister Stephen Harper, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and the Ombudsman of the CBC. In time I hope that this will have a million signatures , till then I keep fighting to end the autism block for my son and all like him

My brother also has Autism and he cannot function well around loud sound, so going to school was difficult for him and the student and teachers didnt treat him well .. so i understand the struggles of thoughs with children with autism > < sence your son is still young and might not be speaking yet be careful tarwords your sons teachers and how their really treating him and what their doing in school. The school system when my brother was in school had this basic skills class and they made them clean toilets for an hour each day i thought it was horrible.
