Growers of broccoli would have to be rubbing their hands together at the moment. Researchers are making all sorts of claims about the vegetable, most of which would encourage people to eat a little more of the "green delight."

They say there's more than one reason to bolt down your broccoli - recent publicity about the vegetable has highlighted the anti-cancer benefits but now researchers say it could help slow the ageing process.

The US researchers believe the vegetable may hold a key to restoring the body's immunity, which declines as we age.
