MALAGA, Spain, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- A British man says he is physically capable of revisiting his former glory in a Spanish bullfighting ring at the age of 65.

Progeny of Bulls vanquished cheer in hopes of retribution

Frank Evans says while doctor's orders cut short his matador career three years ago, he is fully prepared to revisit the dangerous sport in southern Spain after getting back into shape, The Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper, said Thursday.

In his defense there is something to be said for doing what it is you love regardless of your age.

"I now feel better than ever and I want to be a bullfighter again. People tell me I am mad but surely that is what such surgery is for -- to allow you to continue living the life you love," he said.

Regardless crowds will flock to watch him in morbid curiosity when he does return.

Evans, who began training as a bullfighter at the age of 23, says while most men his age focus their sporting urges on a golf course, he is intent on facing an agitated bull once again.

It is only a matter of time before the Bull extracts the ultimate revenge for his species.

Evans' attempt in the ring this Sunday comes after the senior citizen underwent both a quadruple heart bypass operation and had a knee replaced with a titanium prosthetic knee, the newspaper said

He'll need much more than this when he meets his match

World_Groove, I like this story. It's good stuff. You know they're only going to the event to watch the bull gore him to death

This photo was taken after a horrifying bullfight at VENTAS in Madrid, Spain during the Fall of 2007. It was my first (and last) bull fight that I saw during my semester abroad in Madrid. The matador you see here is parading the defeated bull's ear around the ring after his last, successful kill. As you can see by the blood on his pants, he had a tough time killing the animal. The crowd was very pleased as this matador paced all the way around ring - ear in hand. The fans were even throwing scarves and jackets for the matador to touch and throw back. I do not believe in the innocent killing of animals, but it was an interesting experience to say the least!!

My partner was the one who really wanted to see this event, which was held especially to celebrate Mexican Independence Day. I went along innocently, having no idea what was to come. We arrive and I, in my American ignorance, slowly come to the realization that a bull will be killed today and that I would be watching. I thought the idea was barbaric and immensely stupid, and was not looking forward to sitting in the sweltering heat for two hours to watch.

As it turned out, 6 bulls were killed at this event, and one instantly in a stunning charge. Great tenacity and spirit were displayed by the animals, and equal amounts of bravery were seen in the men. I certainly can say it was an experience like no other. A great example of a country tradition that is much different then ours, yet accepted by the countries' people very much the same way we would accept football.

My friend was having a Spanish themed party, and I got this costume from the local costume shop. Spending about an 2 hours in the shop, choosing the whole piece from separate areas.

My name for the evening was Juan Carlos Fernadez, and I was ready to tame any bull.

Themed parties only work if everyone has no shame, and gets into the vibe and unfortunately this was not one of them. I walked through the front door and it was as if the dj scratched the needle on the record. Other guests idea of dressing up was to wear a bull on their t-shirt, so I felt like a complete idiot and headed straight for the sangria.

I couldn't let the hard work go to waste, so with the help of my friend Johnnie Dritsas we recreated our own Spanish bull fight in Ultimo, Sydney.
