MALAGA, Spain, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- A British man says he is physically capable of revisiting his former glory in a Spanish bullfighting ring at the age of 65.
Progeny of Bulls vanquished cheer in hopes of retribution
Frank Evans says while doctor's orders cut short his matador career three years ago, he is fully prepared to revisit the dangerous sport in southern Spain after getting back into shape, The Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper, said Thursday.
In his defense there is something to be said for doing what it is you love regardless of your age.
"I now feel better than ever and I want to be a bullfighter again. People tell me I am mad but surely that is what such surgery is for -- to allow you to continue living the life you love," he said.
Regardless crowds will flock to watch him in morbid curiosity when he does return.
Evans, who began training as a bullfighter at the age of 23, says while most men his age focus their sporting urges on a golf course, he is intent on facing an agitated bull once again.
It is only a matter of time before the Bull extracts the ultimate revenge for his species.
Evans' attempt in the ring this Sunday comes after the senior citizen underwent both a quadruple heart bypass operation and had a knee replaced with a titanium prosthetic knee, the newspaper said
He'll need much more than this when he meets his match
