Cancer threat to increase

ONE in seven women will develop breast cancer if present health trends continue, according to new research.

Manchester doctors found the risk to women who carry a specific gene mutation has trebled in the last 60 years.

And they say the changes are reflected in the general population.

One in 10 women in Britain currently develop breast cancer by the age of 80 but researchers believe this will increase to one in seven by 2024 unless lifestyle changes are made.
