According to the CDC, the listeria outbreak has spread to:

  •  California
  • Colorado
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Maryland
  • Montana
  • Nebraska
  • New Mexico
  • Oklahoma
  • Texas
  • Virginia
  • West Virginia
  • Wisconsin
  • Wyoming

The causes of death have been difficult to diagnose, since the victims may have had other health issues which exacerbated the listeriosis food poisoning. Confounding the issue is that listeria can result in sickness weeks after it is consumed, which makes tracking the tainted cantaloupe challenging.

The tainted cantaloupe came from Jensen Farms, and were shipped under the Rocky Ford brand.

The Rocky Ford-brand cantaloupes from Jensen Farms were shipped from July 29 through Sept. 10 to Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wyoming.
