Some people dote on their animals and through that love fail to remember that their dear dog, cat or rabbit could be harbouring a disease or two that could see off their owner.

Here it seems that E.coli carried by the cat killed its 71 year old owner. Pets are maybe great companions but sometimes owners don't even notice when the house starts to smell due to bacterial growth caused by bad pet hygiene.

Owners have to be particularly careful if they have children - here's a link to help avoid your children or you suffering illnesses caught from pets: Pet Diseases

A GRANDAD was killed by his beloved cat after catching a deadly bug from its faeces in his garden, an inquest heard.

Retired businessman Victor Lepford, 71, is thought to have contracted E.coli from handling soiled grass clippings.

Mr Lepford’s widow Eunice told the hearing their cat Poppet usually went to the toilet on the lawn rather than in the flower borders at their home in Prestbury, Gloucs.
