Cell Phones – Convenient Danger
Cell phones have been around for many years and have undergone many changes since their creation. They provide many benefits such as security for travel, access to communication during an emergency, a way to stay in touch with loved ones or business associates among many other conveniences. Wherever we are, cell phones have become a picture of commonality.
As with most things, moderation is the key. However, our compulsion that contributes to the explosion of cell phone use also increases the dangers that coincide with their use. Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) is present in many different facets of our life. Microwaves, dishwashers and even our bedside clock radios contribute to our EMR exposure.
Over the years, studies have been conducted on the dangers of cell phone use. In fact, these studies indicate that the government and cell phone companies refuse to admit the pending dangers that coincide with their use. Genetic damage, brain dysfunction, brain tumors, sleep disorders and headaches have all been reported as a consequence to our convenient cell phone pal.
So how much is too much. That is yet to be determined. However, after watching this video on the strength of the radiation capabilities, perhaps we should examine the frequency of our convenience.

I have been following studies and reports on cell phones for several years now. Luckily I have no need for one and in a considerable portion of my community they don't work anyway. My highest degree of concern is their use by children as their brains have yet to reach full growth. Ironically the primary reason parents cite for buying cell phones for their kids is safety. Americans have an estimated 272 million cell phones, almost one for every citizen, according to industry data. More than 15 percent of U.S. households have dropped their home land-line phones in favor of a cellular-only lifestyle. And more parents are buying cell phones sometimes for children as young as 6.
The latest news I became aware of is that according to the World Health Organization, Alzheimer's disease, depression and a greater risk of epileptic reactions could be the possible consequences of mobile phone usage.

Thank you TT for your comment. And yes, this is a growing concern especially with children. Irony sets in when we feel that we are accomplishing safety issues when in fact our health is being compromised. So what takes precedence in these issues? However, the question remains, should the government and cell phone companies be responsible for expenditures related to cell phone use since they are well aware of the dangers?

Really interesting, I've always wondered whether or not cellphones could be harmful or not to us. I believe it is extremely important that further research is done over the topic, specially since we have such a huge proliferation of cell phones worldwide today. Thanks for sharing!

I agree that there should be more research done and that the public be properly informed. Thank you also for sharing.

It's worth pointing out that the video linked above is an urban myth, and is easily debunked. Get your friends together, put all your mobile phones on the table surrounding a single piece of unpopped popcorn. Have one phone conference call the others, and watch nothing happen to the popcorn.
Popcorn pops when the tiny bit of water in its core evaporates, thus popping the corn. If the radiation emitted by your phone could actually do that, take a moment to picture what your ear would look like after a 5-minute call...
While there could well be risks associated with mobile phone usage, accidental popping of corn is assuredly not one of them.

Thank you for sharing that. However, the message that was supposed to be delivered was one of medical concern. Primarily, the focus of the story was not on the video but on the dangers associated with cell phone use.
