Conversion Disorder: Upstate NY High School Mystery Illness Called 'Mass Hysteria'

A "mystery illness" that caused twitching and stuttering in 12 girls at Le Roy Junior-Senior High School in upstate New York, finally has a diagnosis: Dr. Laszlo Mechtler, a neurologist in Amherst, says that the girls of Le Roy are suffering from conversion disorder

What Is Conversion Disorder?

Conversion disorder is a psychological condition triggered by a stress event. Conversion disorder used to be called "mass hysteria", and it is not without precedent:

Conversion Disorder symptoms include twitching, blindness, difficulty walking, stuttering, or paralysis; and present without any apparent neurological or physical cause. This does not mean that patients with conversion disorder are faking their symptoms.

Women are two to six times more likely to present with conversion disorder than men, according to a 2000 study; "mass hysteria" was originally believed to only affect women.

of course, the illness is due to "mass hysteria".  makes perfect sense.  wasn't it "mass hysteria" that was blamed for the sudden bird deaths last year in the fracking earthquake town of guy, arkansas?  i do wonder if there is any hydraulic fracturing activity near the town of  le roy.  considering that only females are subject to this neurological illness, can estrogen exposure to some poisons create neurological symptoms, i wonder?  is it possible for shattered shale beds to randomly release gas through porous soil.  have any wells near that area been contaminated as have wells in many areas of the u.s. where there is natural gas extraction?  jsut wondering.

LeRoy’s Teen Girls are not Hysteric! Dr. Laszlo’s diagnosis of mass hysteria as the cause of a mysterious illness affecting 12 local girls, (in LeRoy, NY population 8,000), is incorrect. Laszlo’s treatment is, of course, fill the young girls with unnatural chemical pills, and see which pill works, if any. Now, LeRoy’s young girls are the same as young females everywhere, the DNA in their brains is genetically programmed to first process information using negative ions, before processing the same information using positive ions. Large numbers of positive ions result in a stressful state of alertness, while large amounts of negative ions create a peaceful state of relaxation. Excessive amounts of positive ions cause problems for human physical bodies. Excessive amounts of positive ions are found in our water, air and food supplies. Also, a large number of positive ion energy devices are being used in military and university/corporate experiments.  Tomorrow, we begin releasing our ancient Sacred Miracle Healing Waters. We do have a secret underground Desposyni Church that is located within 50 miles of LeRoy, NY. If LeRoy’s 12 girls and/or their parents would like to receive, at no charge, some glass jars of our Sacred Miracle Healing Waters and our ancient self healing technique, then they can contact us. Our ancient technique will enable the girls to transform the excessive numbers of positive ions in their bodies into negative ions. If they promise to keep our location secret, they can email us at EldestBrother@DesposyniChurch.org.

This natural approach seems worth taking a look at and I bet it won't be costing as much as drug companies charge

This is certainly a thought provoking theory. If posistive ions are to blame and negative ions are the cure, a natural approach should be chosen as the treatment option instead of a medical approach which will only increase the number of positive ions.

If it is a conversion disorder, your treatment should work. I've used orange juice to cure pseudoseizures.

Le Roy High School is built on a swamp. I have heard stories of kids (not all) that used to play soccer or football there (before the school was built) ending up with sores and such that took an extremely long time to heal. Coincidence???? I don't know.

Humm...interesting that one commentor said that Le Roy High School is built on a swamp. I was suspicious about the property...looked up the tax records (just gong by memory, but I believe it was $220K or so paid for 8.8 acres in 2002...suspect that it was contaminated or not prime property) and viewed it from Google earth.  The report from the school also noted a natural gas smell.  That combined with the ATSDR investigation report of tetracholythelene spill in Le Roy, that never seemed to be properly remidiated, and testing reports of it seeping in to well and ground water and the plume moving SE makes me even more suspicious.  Could be vapor intrustion from TCE/TCA or a slew of other chemicals dumped into swamps.  Radon gas can also accumulate in property built on swamps.  Lastly, I read an article that said women are 80% more likely to suffer auto-immune diseases than men.  Peraps that's why more women suffer from "mass hysteria" as they like to call it, then men.

Here is a good link on vaccines & "mass hysteria"..."We can now add 350 students in 23 clusters of Mass Hysteria that occurred in Taiwan.  The episodes happened during the nationwide in-school vaccination program against Influenza A (H1N1)"  vaxtruth.org/2012/01/the-le-roy-twelve-mass-hysteria-gardasil-pandas-aluminum-toxicity-a-discussion-on-environmental-factors-mitochondrial-damage-and-vaccine-injury/

Who is greasing the quack Laszlo Mechtler's palms?

Dr. Laszlo Mechtler is a wonderful doctor.  He has been taking care of my brain tumor for 6 years and has the BEST MRI imaging in the state of NY.  He is the most intelligent doctor I have known in his field short of Mayo Clinic.  I am sure he is correct!

That comment about 'autoimmune disorder' is where I'm heading too. You may have seen a YouTube video where a young woman suffered from an extremely odd dysfunction where should could walk backwards, run forwards...but could not walk forwards - a reaction to vaccination.  Without looking it up I would not be sure how remission was stimulated - but when it comes to cause I'd rather give you the file URL so you know I am not just coming at this on the basis of one article or video. oldephartte.livejournal.com/4649.htmlI collect news from odd quarters : just remember that conventional explanations have failed and give no contest to my speculation.
