Coroner Ruling on Amy Winehouse: 'Death by Misadventure'

Finally offering insight into the sudden passing of Amy Winehouse, Coroner Suzanne Greenawayannounced a verdict of death by misadventure on Wednesday (October 26).

It's reported that the 27-year-old died as an 'unintended consequence' of drinking too much alcohol - as she's said to have downed so much booze in the hours before her death she was almost five times over the legal limit for drink-driving.

As previously reported, Amy was found unresponsive in bed at her London home on the afternoon of Saturday, July 23rd, after her personal security guard became concerned and checked on her.

A cop who attended the scene found three empty vodka bottles in Winehouse's bedroom, and toxicology tests later showed the singer's blood-alcohol reading was way above the level at which a fatal collapse of the respiratory system can occur.

Winehouse's parents, Mitch and Janis, were at the London hearing as pathologist Suhail Baithun revealed blood samples showing the singer was 4.5 times the legal drink-drive limit in the UK.

Winehouse's doctor, Christina Romete, confirmed the star had started drinking again in the days before her death after a period of sobriety.

With his daughter's tragic death behind him, it's since been revealed that Mitch Winehouse intends to share his treasured memories of her with the rest of the world.

The 60-year-old jazz musician will pen a memoir for HarperCollins titled “Amy, My Daughter,” due to hit stores in the Summer of 2012.

And while the book will no doubt be a huge success financially, Mitch explained that he’s more interested in the therapeutic aspect of writing it.

“I feel that I need to write this book to tell the true story of Amy and to help with my personal recovery,” he shared in a statement to press.
