Cyrus Sullivan has created a site called STDCarriers.com, where he hopes to out STD carriers before they have a chance to infect more people after he himself contracted genital herpes from a girl who chose not to share that information with him prior to sexual intercourse.

Sullivan’s hatred comes from the fact that he himself was infected with Herpes by a woman who didn’t disclose the fact upfront. The first person named on his list is the girl who infected him, including full name and even a picture. The rest of the site so far only lists celebrities who are publicly known to have STDs, but he’s asking others to submit names to the site.

According to local media reports, the site isn’t being well received in Portland, with a number of people quoted against what Cyrus Sullivan is trying to do, primarily on the basis that any names listed could be false, and the outing of people falsely may be devestating to reputations in an online age.

The database allows people to submit photos, names and personal details of anyone who supposedly gave them an STD - though one obvious risk is that people may post false information.  In such a case, in order for you to refute the claim and have your name removed Sullivan requires that you first send medical records that prove you are indeed STD-free.

I do find it curious that despite Sullivan's 'best' intentions to warn people about deceptive partners, however misplaced and malicious his tactics are, he hasn't actually listed himself on the site.  Last I checked, herpes was incurable - where's the public service announcement warning the public against Sullivan?

Report this guy to the FTC I did as he violated privacy laws and confidentiality. Whos to say that your name cant show up there if someone wants to smear you with a false report there are laws in place to protect others. While he may be trying to do a good service he's doing this out of anger. Just think it only a matter of time before someone sues him.   Heres the websie to make a claim to FTC maybe they'll shut him down

Too bad

Mark Allen...Sounds like you have a STD that you won't want others to know about.  If you are posted then your name can be removed if you show proof of negative results.  I think this was an AWESOME idea.  Sabe money on health insurance and stop these deadly diseases.  I think if you don't share that you have a STD you should be punished.  It should be a CRIME!

Too bad-I think you misunderstood me. For one thing my name isn't on the list. There are cruel people out there of course that will go have unprotected sex however I speak of people that don't want their private lives made public. For one it’s embarrassing to have a STD having a STD means you go thru extra stress and you don't want your employer or town knowing you have a STD would you want to be listed on the web on that site if you got infected? If you have a STD and you maintain a normal life and don't infect others you are protected by medical privacy laws plain and simple there is no other way to slice and dice it. Now for those who do the wrong thing they should be prosecuted however it is your responsibility to protect yourself meaning you have to assume everyone nowadays has a STD if you don’t your just being naive. Having said that if you put out sensitive information that someone has a STD and you don’t get their consent you can be sued.

Lastly there are people who have publicly acknowledged they have a STD if Cyrus wants to publish that then that’s his business.

I still don’t support the websites views as he is playing god. There is no accountability on that site anyone can say he or she has a STD it  is not his right to out everyone unless he asks them first.

All I see in this story is a serious law suite. You can't publish medical information especially with no proof! There are so many things wrong with this site and his idea.

I understand that you don't want to get an std but you cant go and start invading peoples personal lives.
