David Arquette Officially Files for Divorce from Courteney Cox
Even though today marks their 13th wedding anniversary, David Arquette is ready to cut all ties with Courteney Cox by filing for divorce.
The "Never Been Kissed" actor cites “irreconcilable differences” on the legal documents he filed on Friday, just before jetting off to Israel for his bar mitzvah.
Although he's not seeking spousal support, Arquette is asking Cox for joint legal and physical custody of their daughter, Coco, in the documents obtained by TMZ.
David - who will be representing himself in the court proceedings - has apparently been holding onto the divorce papers for nearly three months, as he signed the documents on March 23, 2012.
The soon-to-be ex couple exchanged vows on June 12, 1999 after meeting on the set of "Scream" back in 1995. They've remained on good terms since announcing their separation back in October of 2010, with a proud and smiling Cox even showing up to support her husband on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" every week during his Fall 2011 run on the show.
Meanwhile, it's an exciting time for David Arquette, who held his long-overdue Bar Mitzvah in Israel yesterday (June 11).
According to a report, the 40-year-old "Scream" actor’s mother is Jewish, but he never had the ceremony performed back when he was a child. In 2010 he told the Jewish Journal, “I wanted a bar mitzvah but didn’t have one as a kid… I still may get one – maybe for my 40th birthday.”
Arquette, who has been filming “Trippin” in Israel over the past week, decided to go to the Western Wall and hold his Bar Mitzvah in one of the holiest sites in the city.
After the religious service, David tweeted, “I had my Bar Mitzvah today at the wall. Finally I’m a man.”
