Derrick Burts (Cameron Reid, Derek Chambers) is HIV-Positive Porn Star 'Patient Zeta'

Derrick Burts, a 24-year-old porn star who uses the name Derek Chambers for gay porn and Cameron Reid for straight porn, has gone public as Patient Zeta, the porn star who tested positive for HIV in October 2010.

Derrick Burts found out that he was HIV positive on October 8 after a routine test at the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation in California. All of Derrick Burts costars (from Cameron Reid projects as well as Derek Chambers projects) were quarantined and tested. Derrick Burts' infection was traced to another adult performer, known to be HIV-positive, who was not named due to doctor-patient confidentiality.

This goes against the clinic's initial claim that Burts contracted HIV through "private, personal activity", since his girlfriend also tested negative.

Burts said AIM staff had warned him not to contact the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, whose officials have been among the clinic's chief critics. In frustration, Burts said he went to an AIDS Healthcare Foundation center in Los Angeles on Nov. 24 and saw a doctor, never identifying himself as Patient Zeta.
