Former US Vice President Dick Cheney is in hospital for elective back surgery. Dick Cheney is suffering from lumbar spinal stenosis, which is a narrowing of the spinal canal. This puts pressure on the nerves of the spinal cord, and is a primary cause of lower back pain in older people.

The Mayo Clinic has more info on lumbar spinal stenosis.

Dr. Anthony Caputy, chairman of the hospital's neurosurgery department, is performing the operation.

Cheney is 68 years old. He has had four heart attacks.

How does a self-professed writer have so many typos? Even Word would catch them first. Must be all of that 'tweeting.' Comments just enforce it. Help them all.

marvin, he doesn't have one to check.

adel I agree with you

c.coleman, what America are you talking about? Certainly not this one. Bush and Cheney are mastermind crooks and guilty of high crimes and treason. This back surgery may be "payback". One can ONLY hope it will be.

It is our patriotic duty to speak out against Bush and Cheney.
