When someone decides to kill themselves at work all kinds of questions around emotional health and wellbeing are raised. This is a tragic story of a dinner lady who appears to have taken her own life by consuming pills and then getting inside a large freezer in the school kitchens where she worked.

The full details are not yet known but cases of suicide at work are unusual and this appears to have been a deliberate choice of location.

There is no suggestion at this point that working conditions had anything to do with Mrs. Gent's suicide other than the choice of location.

The world financial crisis is predicted by some to see an increase in mental health problems and suicide attempts as financial and job worries are even in more stable times cited as causes for depression and suicidal feelings.

A school dinner lady has been found dead in a freezer at the primary school where she had worked for 20 years. Linda Gent's body was discovered, along with pills, in a large chest freezer, at South Benfleet Primary School, in Essex.

The 55-year-old had been reported missing 15 hours earlier. An inquest has been opened and adjourned, but the police said detectives were not treating the death as suspicious, and said a report was being prepared for the coroner. Mrs Gent's body was found on Saturday, after a member of the public contacted the police.
