Denver,
CO – February 20, 2008 –
Disaboom, the leading online community
designed for people with disabilities and their friends, family and caregivers,
today announced the expansion of its stroke resource section. The
newly-expanded online resource offers detailed information on prevention,
recognition and reintegration for strokes, the leading cause of long-term
disability in the United States.

According to the American Heart Association, strokes are the
third leading cause of death in the U.S. and are the leading cause of long-term
disability in American citizens.  Today,
there are nearly five million stroke survivors in the United States.

“With strokes accounting for the largest number of people
with long-term disabilities, it is increasingly important that people know the
warning signs and are aware of the best methods for recovery,” said Dr. Glen
House, founder of Disaboom.
“Disaboom.com provides a convenient online resource to not only provide
crucial information on strokes and other disabilities, but also to connect
those with disabilities to others in similar situations.  On Disaboom.com, people with disabilities can
find the necessary answers and support to persevere and live forward”

Disaboom’s newly-expanded stroke resource offers up-to-the
minute medical research as well as practical information to help people
recognize the warning signs of stroke and survey their risk.  In addition to covering the types of strokes
and warning signs for each, disaboom.com’s online stroke resource addresses
potential complications, stroke prevention and tips for stroke survivors on
everything from rehabilitation to employment to driving to sexuality.  Site visitors can also chat and participate
in discussion forums with other stroke survivors.

Launched in 2007, Disaboom is dedicated to improving the
quality of life for people touched by disabilities.  To visit Disaboom’s comprehensive stroke
resource section, visit disaboom.com, click on “Health”, then go to the
