Saturday February 7 2009 has been described as the worst peace time disaster Australia has ever seen.
So far over 130 people have been found dead, with more to come, as bushfires have flattened whole country towns, split families in half, and burned country Victoria to the ground.
I feel so strongly for those affected. I heard stories of men waking up in hospital with severe burns, not knowing where they are, or even if their family has survived.
The sky has been stained with the effects of the fires. These photos are just a small tribute that I can contribute to those who have fought for our safety and for those who died trying.

These photos are taken from Melbourne. In my area (Eastern Suburbs) we experienced quite a lot of smoke from the Bunyip fires, and were quite close to the Churchill Park fires when they happened last week. One of my workmates lives right next to where the Narre Warren fires were, where 6 homes were destroyed right in the middle of the suburbs.
I feel so strongly for those who have lost families and homes. The stories continue to affect me. I pray for their wellbeing and safety, especially in the months to come once this settles down.
