Perhaps the best gift one can give to a living being is life and support to live better. Blood Donation is one of the means and methods where you can directly impact one life and death decision.

At present our blood banks in India needs bloods to give support to the people who need it badly. We must encourage our citizen and children to feel proud after donating blood. Blood is required regularly for the people suffering from Thalassemia and renal failure or during Heart or other major operations.

In India still the awareness level is very less in rural part also for urban world many people feel next time we will do but that never comes in life. Due to medical conditions Diabetes and other people with chronic disease cannot donate blood. Hence eligible people are less in number to donate and among eligible also very few is willing to do so.

It is one of the social responsibilities for the peoples of India to motivate and make people aware to do all that possible to encourage people to donate blood. Many school and college have started this initiative to promote this social welfare activity.

One such camp was organized at Dum Dum, Kolkata,India where people of Nagebazar and adjacent area participated in last week.

One local school at Satgachi,Dum Dum,Nager Bazar,Kolkata organized Health Cheek up & Cataract Screening Camp on Sunday 20th November,2011 from 11 am to 1 pm. It was conducted by APPOLO GLENEAGLES HEART CENTRE & SUSRUT EYE FOUNDATION.

Free & low cost support for E.C.G, Cardiology Consultation, Random Blood Sugar was conducted by APPOLO GLENEAGLES HEART CENTRE and Eye Cataract Screening by SUSRUT EYE FOUNDATION.

About 300 to 320 financially challenged and below poverty line families have gone through this health check up. Everyone was very happy to receive the best possible medical checkup and support at no cost is out of their imagination.

The whole activity was closely monitored by the dignitaries of all walks of life to support and actively participate to make it a grand success. The program was well supported by the presence of Chairman, Vice-Chairman of South Dum Dum Municipality at Kolkata, Media channels, Journalist and many more social workers. Students of higher classes gave their helping hands in every possible way. Specially Mr.Manab Aditya secretary of the Netaji Public School encouraged and motivated the students and audience by sharing his personal experience and feeling towards such camps. Also ensured that he will try to arrange such camps in aregular interval.

The camp winded up the program with beautiful thoughts given by secatary Mr. Aditya and teachers of Netaji Public School.

At present Kolkata and other parts of India also need this kind of Grand Social Work from all nooks and corners of the society. Specially Sunderban and other remote villages needs this kind of camp for the poorest of poor.
