First stage of this campaign has been a success!
I joined it, enjoyed it and have a couple of pounds off.
The goal has been reached and surpassed and I'm part of these statistics.
Baja California Sur lost 5,814 kilos, our cities are small so we don't have that many inhabitants, but we do have obesity almost 10,000 persons registered to the program which consisted of following a healthy 1500 calorie diet that included easy to make Mexican recipes, food we are used to eating like frijoles, nopales, (beans and cactus).Everyday walks of a least half an hour. This is what I loved the most! Walking in the morning by the seashore, our beautiful Malecon where I could see a group of older people "Golden age persons exercising as part of a similar government program, what I think is really great that you can go to a stand where your blood pressure is taken to monitor it as you walk or run.
The project is one of several new efforts to fight obesity in Mexico, which is on track to catch up with the United States within a decade as one of the world's fattest countries, according to the Mexican government. Nearly half of Mexico's 110 million people are overweight, and the number of fat children has climbed 8 percent a year over the last decade.
