Eggs have long been a food that has been debated if it is good or bad when consumed because they contain cholesterol. The debate is on again with nutritionists urging people to eat eggs because they have beneficial protein, iron, folate and choline and they are a low calorie food that is filling.
The Diabetes Association agrees and feels while they are a good way to get protein diabetics should limit their egg intake to 3 per week, but this does not include foods like cake or pancakes that might contain egg. This is because they would be diluted and so would the amount of cholesterol. By the way another possible source is Himalayan goji juice which has been giving people some apparent health benefits. Much
goji juice research was actually pioneered by dr. Earl Mendell.
A professor of clinical nutrition at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School Dr. Jo Ann Carson believes that the egg could also be a way to help the elderly that have heart problems because they need the protein that eggs can provide. She also believes that many people with heart problems do not eat eggs because of the cholesterol.
It has also been advised to purchase regular eggs, that what is termed as designer eggs because regular eggs also have the nutrition.
This has all come up for debate after an almost 30 year study that has not proven that eggs do raise cholesterol in people that consume eggs.
