Ellie Potvin Has Sadly Passed Away on June 23 2010 At the Young Age of Eight

As confirmed by Ellie Potvin's Twitter account and her blog on the CaringBridge Lift Up Ellie, Ellie Potvin gained her 'angel wings' at 11:35 am on Wednesday.

She has suffered from a rare form of stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma cancer in the trunk of her body and her lungs and had been fighting for her life since her 2008 diagnosis. She completed numerous rounds of radiation and Chemo but the tumors returned and while her family and friends prayed for a cure and a miracle, Ellie Potvin lost her battle with cancer.

Early on Wednesday morning it was posted on her blog that she was still fighting. Just over two hours later another entry appeared:

Ellie is still breathing... She is ever so slowly leaving us. This is breaking me to shreds, I have been ripped apart, this has tested my faith, to watch your child die before your eyes - is to much for a mother - just to much.

God I pray... Please let her fly.

Then just over five hours past that message she passed away and was in her mother's arms when she made her way up to heaven.

Ellie Potvin's funeral details have already been made available to the public.

Her funeral will be held at Calvary Church in Charlotte North Carolina on Saturday June 26 at 11 am with the wake being held at the same location on Friday June 25 at 6 pm.

Thankfully our church is ample in seating! I have no idea how to make this happen in Our "Ellie" fashion. But we do our best with music, photos, video, flowers, ceremony... To Celebrate her life!
Please wear pink to funeral or pastels ;) Ellies's favorite colors!

If you would like to send flowers please do send them to the church in Charlotte North Carolina and if you would like to donate to Ellie's fund you can do so from the Lift Up Ellie blog.

I've only heard about Ellie within the past two weeks.  What a beautiful young family,  beautiful girls, and unthinkable illness.  Amy has spoken so eloquently and freely about her feelings and events that one could not help but feel compelled to follow Ellie's journey.  So many were praying with the Potvin family for Ellie's miracle on earth, but it was not meant to be.  God gives us the strength to do amazing things, even when we don't feel we are strong.  For not having met your family, I am taken aback at how heartbroken I am for you.  I pray for your family peace and understanding that only He can provide.  I pray for comfort for Grace.  I'll continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers in the coming days and weeks.  Ellie has touched more lives that you will ever know.  God Bless your family, and Team Potvin.
