The drug companies need to keep aside profit motive while producing dangerous drugs that harm the family system and society. Besides those who use such formulations may suffer from side effects that haunt them for long.

Cipla manufactures the popular emergency contraceptive pill popularized as I pill and the company claims popping this pill gives protection from pregnancy within 72 hours of the act. It widely advertises in the media including the TV as well as print media which indirectly assure the girls that with I pill they can stop worrying about unwanted pregnancy. The factory website proudly claims that Mahatma Gandhi visited Cipla on July 4, 1939 and “was delighted to visit this Indian Enterprise” Mahatma Gandhi  if alive today for sure must have retraced his words of appreciation for the company as he stood for a meaningful way of life based on moral, spiritual and social values. It is obvious that the drug manufacturing companies with sheer profit motive are contributing to the deterioration of family and social values by producing unwanted formulations that neither help the society nor the family system. It is also advertised in the web site that the pill is available without prescription at all chemist outlets. Premarital sex, sex with many partners is not only morally and socially wrong but also is the main reason for the spread of dreaded aids disease.  Instead of spreading awareness of the benefits of I pill as a protection against unwanted pregnancy, awareness must be spread against indulging in premarital sex or sex with multiple partners. For both men and women it is ideal and safe to indulge in sex with spouse only  not only to for the sake of society but also for the sake of their individual health.

Abortion as a method to prevent unwanted babies is decried world over since, destroying life form is considered immoral. Similarly indulgence in unprotected sex with other than the life partner too needs to be discouraged to protect the wonderful concept of family system where the wife, husband and children live as a unit and enjoy beautiful companionship of love and affection in a natural way.

Modernism must not be equated with values inimical to the concept of family built over thousands of years after experimenting with all sorts of social companion ships. After all man is different from animals and the actions of humans endowed with the power to think need to preserve, protect and continue the wonderful traditional concepts like family, companionship, love and affection. The short term pleasures that premarital sex or sex with different partners ruin the social and family system besides harming the health of the people beyond repair.
