Eminem vs. Feminism
Eminem has been one of the most influential Hollywood figure in decades; and most of his influence was not a good one. He has influenced many young men to become abusive and violent to their girlfriends and their wives. In all cases that someone exercises influence, there is one or another reason for it; and in most cases the outcome is worse than the original state.
The reason for Eminem getting the following that he did was the conduct of American women over the previous decade. Toxic feminism influenced women to be complete harpies and to be horrible to men. The problem is that it's not these harpies that got the wrath of the backlash. Practicioners of toxic feminism either stayed single, became lesbian or went with men who were themselves feminists. Which means that the women who found themselves into the lives of Eminem-influenced men were women who were completely innocent; and it is these innocent women that became punching bags for violent jerks.
Social movements have habits of hurting the wrong people and helping the wrong people; and this was the case both with woman-beating movements and harpy movements. Toxic feminism empowered nasty mean-spirited women while doing nothing for kind and warm women who liked men; and Eminem empowered violent abusive cretins while doing nothing for men who had goodwill toward women. In both cases the gender in question was under pressure to become the worst thing that it could be. In case of toxic feminism, women were under pressure to be harpies; in case of Eminem, men were under pressure to be woman-beaters. And both wrongs fell squarely on the shoulders of precisely the wrong people: Toxic feminism, of liberal men who believed in women's rights enough to associate and have relations with feminism-influenced women; and Eminem, of good women who had enough goodwill toward men to be with men and to avoid buying into toxic feminism.
In both cases, precisely the wrong people were hurt, and precisely the wrong people were empowered. Toxic feminism helped only the harpies, and Eminem helped only the brutes. And both influenced their gender to be the very worst thing that it can be.
Both of these toxic influences it now falls upon the rest of us to unravel. The real gender war is not between men and women; it is between men and women who are willing to be good to the other gender and men and women who are not. Men who have goodwill toward women should get together with women who have goodwill toward men and create positive relationships with each other. And the Eminem-influenced men who hate women, like the harpy-influenced women who hate men, should go without the other gender until they are ready to change their attitude.
Both of these toxic influences claim to speak for their whole gender; and neither begins to deserve the right to do such a thing. 50% of the world that are women, like 50% of the world that are men, did not vote for these movements to speak for them; and for either movement to make a claim that they do is a vast and unearned usurpation of power. Usurpation of power that is done furthermore by the worst elements in each gender, which is then used to bludgeon their betters - both women and men - into being the very worst thing that they can be.
Currently, feminism appears to be improving in its character; and that is promising. As Eminem types influence men to be violent toward their wives and their girlfriends, there becomes a very real reason to fight domestic violence. This promises a viable direction for a better, more righteous and more useful feminism. Taking this direction will actually benefit women for real, protecting their actual rights, freedom and safety without influencing them to be horrible human beings or to be ugly to men.
