Eva Uhlin, now 19-years-old had a severe reaction to a paracetamol, so severe that all the skin on her face and a lot on her body turned black and fell off. Paracetamol is known as Tylenol in many parts of the world, but there are other brand names for paracetamol as well.

Eva Uhlin developed Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis or Lyell's Syndrome, which caused her skin to blister, burn and scab.

Remarkably, the Swedish teenager has now grown back her face after the once in a million allergic reaction.

Eva's skin on her chest, arms, back and stomach fell off at one point, and Eva said it was so bad that her lips even grew together for a time.

"It felt like something was crawling around under my skin, I was in total shock – it was like something out of a horror film," she said.

"I couldn't believe what was happening. I had taken Paracetamol many times before."

Eva was only 15 when she took the paracetamol pills and she had a fever. The combination of the medicine and her virus made her have such a severe reaction.

The very next day she had blisters all over her body.

Today, after years of treatment she looks normal, but she is still very sensitive to sunlight.

"As well as the pain, the affect that the reaction had on my confidence for that time was pretty terrible. I was so ashamed of the way I looked. I hated anybody to see me."

Lyell's syndrome is a very rare skin condition but it kills 40% of sufferers. It is more frequent in females.
