Bigtime cheating on his diet

Fast Food Diet, sounds like an oxymoron of sorts eh'? Well unbelievable as it may sound it is plausible. But don't get your hopes up, you can't indulge in all the fried food goodness of your favourite drive-thru. The catch to the Fast Food Diet is selecting the healthiest options at McDonald's, KFC, Taco Bell, or whatever your most-cherished fast food joint may be.

As cardiologist Stephen Sinatra, MD put it, "people love fast food because it tastes good and is reasonably priced, and no matter what professionals say, they are going to continue to eat there, so why not help them make healthier food choices?"

The diet plan itself is contained in a best-selling book but the gist of it is to stick to a 1,500 calorie a day limit by making smart choices, editing, and walking a mile a day. Luckily with the focus on nutrition and the proliferation of the internet, most every fast food chain has their nutritional information readily available online.

One of the suggested daily diet plans goes a little something like this: 300 calorie breakfast, 400 calorie lunch, and a 500 calorie dinner. Sounds easy enough, right? Breakfast options include McDonald's egg mcmuffins at 300 calories or an Arby's sourdough with ham biscuit coming in at a mere 220 calories. For lunch options range from four chicken tenders and a small fry from Burger King at 400 total calories to any "7 Under 6" sandwich from Subway. Dinner ain't lookin' so bad either, get this, a KFC Original Recipe Chicken breast with a serving of mashed potatoes with gravy has a mere 500 in total.

The Fast Food Diet suggests items like baked potatoes, grilled chicken sandwiches, fruit parfaits, chili, and even junior burgers but lays down the mandate of steering clear of sodas, french fries, and other foods high in trans-fats.

Check out the Fast Food Explorer where you can navigate through and come up with a meal from any fast food joint meeting the calorie limit.
