CLEVELAND -- The first baby of New Year's Day was born precisely at midnight.Thursday, as people prepared to celebrate New Years Eve, Zahra Abdullah was being admitted to Metrohealth Medical Center.After her arrival, nurses joked about the special delivery. "Do you want the tax write-off or the New Years baby? They said New Years Baby," MetroHealth nurse, Leslie Logan, quipped.As the night progressed, doctors and nurses not only monitored the contractions but the clock.Just before midnight, as revelers rang in the New Year across the country, Abdullah was fully dilated and ready for delivery."They're like push...push... push and I'm pushing and then everyone is like Happy New Year," she explains.Gullrose Abdullah, 5 lbs. and 7 oz., was born exactly at midnight. The time of birth is listed as 12:00:00 a.m.The new mother says she was worried because in the middle of all the excitement, she didn't hear the baby cry. But her husband Dr. Mehboob Abdullah reassured her and said, "she cried. she cried!"The entire family is thrilled and say they feel blessed to welcome a "beautiful princess" into their family. Little sister, 4-year-old Roshni, was so excited she brought the baby two of her favorite stuffed animals.Abdullah tells Fox 8 News that New Year's Day will always be a double celebration. "We will never forget her birthday. Every New Year we will cut the cake at 12-midnight. It's gonna be a special moment from now on."Doctors and nurses who helped deliver the baby say it will be a special memory for them as well."It's better than watching the ball drop," said Logan.Dr. Steven Weight agreed. He says in 26 years he's delivered several New Years babies -- and even the first twins of a new year, but never any this close.Weight says he never grows tired of seeing the unusual births. "It's beautiful and it never gets old."

JOSEPH'S WOMEN'S HOSPITAL IN TAMPA FLORIDA WEIGHING IN AT 7LBS 7OZ AND 19" LONG.  THIS WAS A NATURAL DELIVERY.    KAYLAN SHOULD BE RECOGNIZED AT THE FIRST BABY OF THE DECADE.
