Inquisitive Leather Jacket

The CFIA has issued a recall notice for School of Fish Brand frozen leatherjacket fish.  It may be contaminated with ciguara toxin.  This toxin is a naturally occuring biotoxin which is accumulated in carnivorous fish.

Poisoning by the ciguara toxin leads to dysfunction of the central nervous system and symptoms range from itchy skin to vomiting and reversal of temperature sensitivity - hot things feel cold, cold things hot.

There have been two reported incidences of ciguara poisoning .  Frobisher International Enterprise Ltd., Delta, BC is recalling the affected product.  The fish have been distributed for sale in British Columbia and Ontario.
