Virus samples “may” have gone missing from the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases.  The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) has been investigating the possible loss of disease samples from Ft Detrick since early February.  CID is responsible for investigating crimes where the Army is, or may be, a party of interest.

February also brought news of another potential threat to world health when two bubonic plague infested rats went missing from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey facility in Newark.  The rats were used in experiments related to the National Institutes of Health bioterrorism program.  Their loss was reported in this article:

And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues.  Rev. 15:6

Ft. Detrick’s possible loss of disease samples was reported today by Citizens for Legitimate Government in its online press at http://www.legitgov.org/#breaking_news

FORT DETRICK DISEASE SAMPLES MAY BE MISSING

USAMRIID is the Army's top biodefense lab, where researchers study pathogens including Ebola, anthrax and plague.

In February, USAMRIID halted all its research into these and other diseases, known as "select agents" following the discovery of virus samples that weren't listed in its inventory.

The institute's commander, Col. John Skvorak, ordered research halted while workers conducted a complete inventory of the institute's select agents.

That inventory is nearly completed, though the exact end date isn't known yet, said Caree Vander Linden, USAMRIID spokeswoman.

The USAMRIID website reports that it maintains bio-safety level-3 and -4 laboratories involved in testing candidate vaccines and therapeutics in its animal research facilities.

”As the United States enters a new era of civilian bio-defense research, it is also clear that USAMRIID plays a critical role in the status of our country's preparedness for biological terrorism and biological warfare. While our primary mission is to protect the warfighter, our research benefits civilians as well—a fact that was amply demonstrated by the events of fall 2001.”

People should not worry about Ft. Detrick’s disease samples being unaccounted for at this time.  The biolab's inventory is not complete yet.  Maybe they will show up!  Officials will probably tell us if they cannot find the vials possibly filled with Ebola, anthrax, and plague samples.  Likewise, there is no cause for stress over the missing bubonic plague infested rats that definitely went missing from the New Jersey lab in November.  An FBI spokesman said the diseased rats “may have been incinerated.”  So everything is fine and there is no reason for alarm.  Certainly, no one is gathering an arsenal of bio-medical weaponry to release plagues on the world.  But just in case, folks might want to be good.

Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
