Homosexuality has been misrepresented by different groups as everything from narcissism to subhuman perversion. Instead homosexuality serves an evolutionary function. These people fulfil their sexual needs in a way that does not produce children in order that they can focus their lives on work that benefits the species. And this, when recognized and used properly, works for the benefit of humanity. A species requires some people to go childless in order that they can spend their efforts and energy working on things that advance the species. And while many societies have provided for that by having celebate priests or monks or nuns or eunuchs, nature has already provided a working mechanism toward that effect. People being naturally sexual, some people are born homosexual, where they get their sexual needs met in a way that produces no offspring. We see homosexuality in nature, especially among man's closest natural relatives the bonobos. It is an adaptation that works for the benefit of the species when the species has the presence of mind to understand that that's what this adaptation is for. So then why, some would argue, are most homosexuals liberal? Well, for one thing, because liberals tolerate homosexuals while conservatives do not. Another reason is that, if one's evolutionary purpose is to do work that benefits the species, then one would be naturally attracted to ideologies that focus on advancing the benefit of the species - ideologies that are much more present among liberals than they are among conservatives. As a married straight man, I have zero personal reason to defend or speak in favor of homosexuals. As a member of humanity I have every reason to do so. These people are naturally suited to doing work that benefits humanity, and that's what they should be allowed to do. They would become professors, researchers, teachers, nurses, doctors, businessmen, writers and along the same line - and, not having to raise children, will have more time and focus to dedicate to these pursuits that benefit the rest of us. The only thing that is required on the part of the rest of us is to recognize this reality and leave them to do what they are here to do without persecution or prejudice.
