Gardasil Complications May be Killing 16-year Old Gabi Swank

Gabi Swank, a 16-year old Kansas teen claims that complications from having received the Gardasil human pappilomavirus (HPV) vaccine are killing her, and her doctor agrees.
Diagnosed with the terminal disease cerebral vasculatis after she was given the controversial Gardasil injection Swank wants to share her story to compel lawmakers to ban the vaccine.
Gabi Swank, a 16-year-old from Wichita, Kansas, says she and other girls are dying from the side-effects of the drug. Once a cheerleader with a 4.0 grade point average, she is now homebound, suffering from seizures, migraines and even two small strokes.Swank’s doctors diagnosed her with cerebral vasculatis, a terminal disease. And he blames Gardasil complications.
Now, Swank and her mother are on a mission.
“She looked at me with the most somber face and she said, ‘If I have to die to save other girls, then I am prepared to do that’,” said Gabi’s mother, Shannon Schrag.
“I want this drug off the market,” said Gabi.

Once a happy and health teen, Gabi Swank has been plagued with extreme fatigue, headaches and loss of coordination. Swank expects to die from her disease wants Gardasil to be banned in order to spare other young girls a similar fate.
Cerebral vasculitis or central nervous system vasculitis (sometimes the word angiitis is used instead of "vasculitis") is vasculitis (inflammation of the blood vessel wall) involving the brain and occasionally the spinal cord. It may produce a wide range of neurological symptoms, such as headache, difficulty moving or coordinating part of the body, changes in sensation, and alterations in perception, thought or behaviour, as well as the phenomena of a mass lesion in the brain leading to coma and herniation. Some of its symptoms may resemble multiple sclerosis.[1] 10% have associated cerebral hemorrhage.[2]
The makers of Gardasil deny claims by Swank and her doctor that Gardasil induced her case of cerebral vasculatis, a condition that is extremely rare and not well understood. The company says the treatment is totally safe and hopes to start administering the vaccine to boys in the near future.

I'm so shocked that 28 people have died from the vaccine - that is shocking - I hadn't heard about anyone dying from it before.

Even though that this is tragic and I feel for the parents grief and hope I never have to endure this. All and any vaccine can kill. This being said the percentage of death due to vaccines is far below the percentage of encountered due to the disease if no vaccination would be done.

I conquer! Thank you thank you thank you for posting your reply. Anyone can react in any way to any vaccine, medication, treatment, etc. Knowing true fate is always unknown until it's happened. No one can blame someone else when it comes to vaccines. Illnesses and deaths would be MUCH higher without typical vaccinations done at birth, 6 months, etc. Keep that in mind

Not true. We are taught that but as the mom of a severely vaccine injured child, it happens way more often than we are aware of or told. Vaccines are a money maker. Period. There is no proof they work and a lot that they cause injury. Just like cigarettes "didn't" cause cancer vaccines "don't" cause major injury. The FDA and CDC were involved in those studies as well.

Paschen, I see you are using the "percentage of death due to vaccines...." statement in your response. My question to you is, What is the percentage of deaths due to vaccines in my niece's family? She had one child and he DIED from vaccines. YES from the vaccines, when she realized that may have been the cause, she called the pediatrician's office to get the lot number so she could report it and they had ALREADY done it!
Three days after the death! So, it looks like the numbers in this case are 100% death from vaccines. There are many more cases like this out there of not only death but damage from vaccines, do you know that the federal government has fund set up to "take care of " these incidences? But, there is a catch if you accept any of the funds you have to sign a statement saying you will keep your mouth shut about the incident? How scary is that?

Are you saying the "majority" will get cancer without it?? Nonsense!! How many women do you know have cervical cancer? At 49 years old, I don't know a single one- so don't say

I agree with Paschen and Barbara McPherson. There are certain risks associated with every vaccine. However, statistically the risk of dying from cervical cancer that HPV infection causes exceeds the risk of getting sick from the vaccine. So, the question is not whether Gardasil should be banned or not. The question is whether all vaccines should be banned because every one of them is going to have health damaging effects or even kill some people. Really, it is all about the tradeoff between protection and immediate risk. I feel very sorry for Gabi and everyone else who got sick, however. This is a very unfortunate situation.

It is not that the shot is killing girls, it's the fact that no body told Gabi there was a possibility she would die from the shot. I agree, maybe taking it off the market is too much, but at least make girls aware of what could happen to their lives. If you know that eating something might kill you, do you eat it? Would you rather have cancer and know there is Kemo to help treat it, or would you take the shot, with a possible side-affect of inflammation of the central nervous system, or auto immune disease of which both have no cure? Did you know that cervical cancer has decreased significantly from 1996 to 2005? There has been a 3.6% decrease per year among all women developing or dying of cervical cancer. Long term testing was not completed before the shot went on the market. Gardisil is using America as their own free testing lab. Imagine convincing your daughter to take this shot because as far as you know it can only help her. Then for the next 6 months, going in and out of hospitals, watch your daughter’s childhood slip away slowly. Try to comfort her and tell her it will be alright when you don’t even know if it will. That’s when I ask you, do the benefits out weigh your child’s life?

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention stated that there have been no official deaths caused by Gardasil, all autopsies done on the girls who have supposedly "died from Gardasil" have been proven by the CDC that it was some other natural cause of death.

I have been researching the side effects of the vaccine for 6 months and have still to this day not found one major thing wrong with the vaccine. The real side effects of Gardasil clearly out weigh the risks.

It is easy for you to make that statement. I have a very sick daughter and how can you go from healthy athletic to sick sick sick shortly after the Gardisil Shot. She has been sick for over 2 years. Until you have walked in our shoes, don't say the vaccine didn't do this. There are too many young women only now figuring out that there illness is related to this vaccine. It took us 2 years now and I finally figured it out. We spent thousands of dollars on doctoring with no diagnosis.

Gabi, I am praying for you. I hope something is found that can reverse the damage that has been done to you. You are so brave, and I am so sorry you are suffering. I hope that all mothers and daughters hear your story and refuse Gardasil. Although my children will never, ever be given Gardasil, as long as I have a breath in my body, they have been harmed by the numerous other vaccines they received. Do not blame yourself, though, Gabi and Shannon. It is not in any way your fault. I blame the medical professionals, and our health officials for their disgusting and completely unacceptable ignorance in promoting a one size fits all vaccine policy, and I blame Pharma for their lack of humanity, and lack of proper safety testing. Gardasil was tested by Merck against an aluminum "placebo" instead of a saline placebo. Aluminum is neurotoxic, so the placebo caused a number of side effects, making Gardasil look safer than it actually was. Yes, all vaccinations come with a level of risk. However, the real question is: Should this vaccination be pushed as something mandatory this early in its existence? It seems that more testing should be done to figure out why it is/could be causing these life-threatening complications. Also, these extreme risks should be something explained to those who are getting it. I've had doctors encouraging me to get it, and I was completely unaware of the stories of these 28 women/girls that have died after taking it.

My 12yo daughter has a progressive motor neuron illness as a result of GARDASIL VACCINES. She has been ill now for 7 months and is not improving. The doctors say that her immune system has attacked the nervous system damaging the covering of the nerves and has damaged the nerve fibers themselves. She has great difficulty walking with braces on both legs and uses a walker at home. She falls because she is unable to maintain her balance. She use to be healthy, happy, could run and jump, could shoot a hoop better than the boys-she excelled at most sports until she got the GARDASIL VACCINES. During our doctors visit today-we learned that she is declining and we will now start a more aggressive therapy/medications for her in order to slow down or halt this fast progressing illness. She enters the hosp again 20 Mar 09 for a trial of chemotherapy meds and immunoglobulin as she has been receiving for the past 2-3 months. I am interested in knowing of any other girls with a similiar diagnosis mixed axonal inflammatory demylinating polyneuropathy or motor neuron illness/neuromuscular illness after receiving GARDASIL vaccines. Please email me bbolund@yahoo.com if you know of anyone or know of successful treatments for these disorders. I am desperately in search of any treatment that will help save my child's life. Although the prevention of HPV does reduce the likelihood of cervical cancer, cervical cancer is treatable if caught very early. Prohibiting risky behavior, unprotected sex and getting regular pap smears would just as likely reduce death from cervical cancer as the vaccine. It is not worth exposing our daughters to the possible long term sequelae of these vaccines. As a parent or as a patient we need review what we are really treating and if there is a better and safer way of preventing these diseases. With cervical cancer, we can do a lot to prevent getting HPV or allowing it to progress to cancer without vaccinating. Our daughters are the victims of this marketing scam.

I agree whole-heartedly with Amy G - It is not worth exposing our daughters to the possible side effects of this, as yet, not fully tested vaccine. Gardasil only prevents a few of the many STD viruses that can cause cervical cancer. It does not prevent the cancer itself, simply a few of the viruses that can cause it. Abstinance until marriage & then a mutually-monogamous sexual relationship is well over 90% effective in prevention with NO ADVERSE SIDE EFFECTS! Annual cervical exams and pap smears are also wonderful preventative measures.

I agree with the last two or three comments. It's not like this is an airborne virus that you cannot prevent by other measures. These vaccines are almost all very suspicious in nature, and being pushed on our children for very little reason.

Boys get HPV and can spread it- the vaccine prevents a couple strains of HPV which can lead to cervical cancer.

I did not allow my daughter to get this vaccine and would not let her. I agree with other her that education is more important - personal hygiene, elimate risky sexual behavior and regular check-ups will do much more than a shot and don't worry method that this vaccine promotes.
I don't mind many of the vaccines but this one and the chickenpox vaccines are stupid. I hate that I had to give my daughter the chickenpox vaccine but if they make this one mandatory for school attendance I gues she will become home schooled.
