NP Rank:
Is Gardasil a Scam?
Reported today in the UK news:
More than 1,300 schoolgirls have experienced adverse reactions to the controversial cervical cancer jab.Doctors have reported that girls aged just 12 and 13 have suffered paralysis, convulsions and sight problems after being given the vaccine.
Dozens were described as having pain 'in extremity' while others suffered from nausea, muscle weakness, fever, dizziness and numbness.
Gabi Swank, a 16-year old Kansas teen claims that complications from having received the Gardasil human pappilomavirus (HPV) vaccine are killing her, and her doctor agrees.
The vaccine was denied approval for women 27-45 years of age, due to more research being needed, but the younger women are OK?
Gardasil is currently approved in Canada and the U.S. for females aged nine to 26 for the prevention of infection caused by four types of the human papillomavirus or HPV.
FDA refused to approve Gardasil for women aged 27 to 45 in their latest decision, sending Merck back to do more work.Health regluators in the U.S. have now asked Merck to submit more data on the effectiveness of the vaccine.
They are going to be awaiting a 48-month study to be completed on the vaccine, and once that is done, the FDA will go back and look at possibly approving it once again.
What is in the vaccine?
The HPV vaccine contains a live cancer virus in addition to aluminum, which is linked to Alzheimer's. Some little girls have died after receiving the 3 shot series. Others are crippled. Although Merck has had to stop pushing for legally mandated HPV vaccines due to strong opposition, some US states have made the vaccine a legal requirement for young girls.
Studies show that HPV does not cause cancer. It causes warts.
For the last several years, HPV vaccines have been marketed to the public and mandated in compulsory injections for young girls in several states based on the idea that they prevent cervical cancer. Now, NaturalNews has obtained documents from the FDA and other sources (see below) which reveal that the FDA has been well aware for several years that Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) has no direct link to cervical cancer.
...since at least 2003, the FDA has changed its position on the relationship between Human Papilloma Virus and cervical cancer, stating that the HPV strain is “not associated with cervical cancer.”
Texas Governor had ties to Big Pharma?
Financial benefit: Big Pharma is pushing mandatory Gardasil vaccination policies so that it can profit from selling more vaccines to the states. This idea is at least partially supported by the fact that the first state Governor to mandate such vaccines (Texas Gov. Rick Perry) had undisclosed ties to Big Pharma. (A top official in Perry’s administration worked directly for Merck, the manufacturer of Gardasil.)
Added March 11/09
Noting that Gardasil is the most expensive childhood vaccine proposed for mass use (it currently costs $404 for the 3 required doses), the authors point out that there haven't been any cost-effectiveness analyses to determine whether the proposed vaccination programs will result in fewer cancer deaths.
....A group of Canadian public health professionals says there remain a number of unanswered questions about the HPV vaccine and that a universal vaccination program in Canada "is premature and could have unintended negative consequences."
Immigrants are REQUIRED to get the vaccine.

There are many parents who are taking a 'wait and see' attitude toward Gardasil before they vaccinate their daughters.
With the many, many foul-ups with new products, this is, in my opinion, a wise approach.
There are far to many meds that are being 'tested' on the public rather than going through the rigorous and lengthy trials that used to be required.
Is this yet another result of our hurry-up society?

I've wondered the same thing myself when I learned that, as included in my article:
According to the American Cancer Society, 90% of human papillomavirus infections are gone within two years, said to be true of the low risk HPVs and the high risk HPVs, said to cause cancer.
Claims that GARDASIL can prevent cervical cancer cannot be proven. Test subjects studied before the FDA approval of GARDASIL were not studied until the common age group for the appearance of cervical cancer in women, 35 to 55 years of age. For the girls and women vaccinated during the study, between the ages of 9 and 26, follow up study was less than 5 years.
The rate of cancer occurring in girls and women in the age group being vaccinated, ages 9 to 26, occurs at a rate of 20 to 30 in every 1 million girls and women, or less than several thousandths of 1 percent.
Heavy lobbying for making vaccination with GARDASIL mandatory for school aged girls in the U.S. has been the subject of debate and protest over the past two years, with many legislators with ties to the drug company being instrumental in trying to get passage of legislation in their states for the drug's use.

I can't think of a larger red flag than a company lobbying to legislate the use of its own product.
Edited to add... and an unproven product at that.

All companies lobby their products and not all the FDA's hoops and hurdles are fair and scientific, either.
When I write an article here that says that lithium works for depression and helps heal the brain, I am lobbying, trying to set up a group of people who will fight with me to prevent the FDA from stopping me from using the product.
Some of the groups and agencies that don't want me to be able to take supplements without a prescription include: the FDA, Ralph Nader, the Union for Concerned Scientists, drug companies, the WHO, and Brussels' European Community.
So, as I said, lobbying is fine if we all get to do it, and companies need to be able to present information about their products to legislators, regulatory agencies and the general public.

The politically-oriented scientific community did this same scare tactic about herpes and heterosexual AIDS.
About 80% of people are immune to herpes and heterosexual AIDS continues not be a major source of new cases.
You would never have thought so if you had heard the "experts" in the 80s talking about these two problems.

It is not a a scam. It is a product with side effects.
All products have side effects. The question is: do the side effects render the product as objectionable because the side-effects begin to be very much a problem of an order of magnitude equal to the problem of the cancer (in this case).
Smallpox vaccinations used to destroy the brains of about one baby in every hundred thousand by inducing a fever.
So, when smallpox seemed to be eliminated, we ended the vaccination.
We should have ended the vaccination years before as there was no chance of getting smallpox in the US at the time.
We would have saved hundreds and hundreds of babies this unpublicized side-effect.

Unfortunately I think that is true in a lot of cases. Use us as guinea pigs.

Scare tactics always work to get people to agree with you.
That is how psychopaths (or people without a conscious) work:
1. Create a problem that is not there.
2. Tell everyone not to worry....you have the solution to it.
3. Bask in your power and Make lots of money.

I find Gardasil horrible and can not believe how little involvement there is to investigate.
Yes, every drug has side effects but "fatal illness" is usually put across as the "rare side effects" category.
I saw the news two weeks ago where the 16 year old girl has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Her only goal now is to raise awareness for the very real side effects.
Her mother is devastated, it was she who took her daughter for the shot since there was a history of cervical cancer in the family. Now, her daughter will be dead soon, and not from cervical cancer.
The Government says it doesn't see any real issue, yet how many people have fatal illnesses and severe adverse reactions so far to the drug? How many will have issues down the road?
Preventative medicine has it's place but needs many years of research behind it to make sure it is safe. Sure, you may get cervical cancer and it may kill you. Or it may not. Or you may be hit by a meteor as it careens down to earth. We will not live forever and must be careful in the choices we make when we don't know the effects they can have.
Companies should not be allowed to profit from these drugs - talk about your "conflict of interest"! If they had the cure for cancer (which I'm sure they do) do you think they'd release it? They'd make more money on the drugs used to "stabilize" cancer for years than they would on curing it.
Disgraceful and unethical - more truthful knowledge needed for our decision making process. Sympathy to those families and individuals affected by Gardasil

perhaps the FDA did make a statement in 2003 about HPV not causing cancer, but that stance has changed. see the current stance at this link FDA

One has to wonder why the FDA DENIED approval this year for women aged 27-45???

Lobbying is one thing, but to make it mandatory is another. Let people have their freedom of choice. How can Texas teens be forced to have this, or all immigrants??? Sounds like a money trail.
