Many people wonder about the role that genes play in the development of obesity, especially since obesity was classified as a disease by the American Medical Association (AMA) recently. But does the scientific data find a connection between obesity and your genes?
In recent years, researchers have been able to isolate specific genes which affect appetite, feeding behavior, and even fat cell location. Evidence has also found that having first-degree relatives who are obese increases the risk of immediate family members developing the disease.
